Michelle Joy is a contemporary artist of Kaurna, Narungga, and Greek heritage, working on Kaurna Country. Her distinct visual style is deeply rooted in her spiritual connection to her Kaurna–Narungga heritage and the interwoven histories that shape her identity.

Art has guided Michelle on a journey toward forming a cohesive sense of her diverse cultural identity and the connections she holds to both her Kaurna–Narungga and Greek heritage. Through her practice, Michelle reflects on the intergenerational impacts of the Stolen Generation, reconnecting with her once dormant and now growing Kaurna–Narungga roots.
