Michelle’s journey towards creating a coherent sense of her diverse cultural identity, and the connections she holds to both her Kaurna–Narungga and Greek heritage, has unearthed her Unearthing series.

Her work explores how cultural identity is embodied through memory, place, and the senses, reflecting on heritage as a deeply rooted presence that shapes our sense of self.

Through her practice, Michelle also reflects on the intergenerational impacts of the Stolen Generation, unearthing her once-dormant Kaurna–Narungga roots. She continues to deepen and strengthen this connection, revealing a heritage that flows within her —nurturing resilience, cultural continuity.
